Podcasting teachers’ reflections

Podcasting from a mobile phoneA school’s attitude to mobile phones use can range from toleration to a total ban. Indeed, every school should have a policy on the use of mobile phones on the premises, perhaps as part of their general bullying policy. Indeed there is global research on this topic.
For some, the mobile phone provides an exciting opportunity to enhance learning, for example, using a site called Gabcast (there are others), you can podcast directly from your mobile phone - no more need for software or uploading to a website. Gabcast creates the RSS feed for you, and you can therefore subscribe to the channels you create in an aggregator like iTunes.

It was an interesting mix of schools, and for the first time was made up of Headteacher and their team (previous SLICT courses were either Headteachers only, or Senior Leadership Teams without Head). To illustrate the point that podcasting was getting easier, I asked those that has broken the ‘house rules’ by leaving their mobile phones on during the sessions, to podcast two sentences on,

“a lesson you might have observed where technology has had an impact on learning - how and why is this so?”
