Headteacher could be "imprisoned in Siberian Camps” for ‘pirating’ Microsoft software
Alexander Ponosov, Headteacher of a small village school in Russia took delivery of 16 computers in August 2005. He says that he was unaware that the pre-installed software was pirated. It is estimated that 83% of software is pirated in Russia, and although Microsoft has decided not to file a civil lawsuit against the headteacher, he has been officially charged with violating copyright law and using pirated software.
