21st century notetaking

My younger daughter enters University in less than two weeks time, and we’ve been sorting out all the bits and pieces she might need as a 21st century student. When I was in college the computer was a mainframe and if you were really organised you made notes and put references on cards then sorted them alphabetically ready for when it came to write your essays. Then you made long-hand drafts before you submitted the final written copy (but what would I have done with all that extra time). A main by-product of the last two weeks is that she has become an excellent sales-person for Apple. All those lads that have come around seem to have fallen in love with her MacBook and purchased their own either new or second-hand on ebay.

But back to college life … apart from recommending the post, 18 Overlooked Things Everyone Should Bring to College, perhaps to save on all those cards, she might try Notesake. Notesake is designed to take notes and organise them online, and like any other respecting Web 2.0 application, share them with your fellow students in real time. Something tells me that this is a lot easier than buying them from last year’s students.
